K-12 work spans districts from Colonie and Guilderland to Niskayuna and the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk district further south, most on buildings built or expanded during the same postwar and 1960s-70s waves that produced a lot of flat built-up roofing now well past its intended service life. Capital Region BOCES facilities add another layer, often shared-use buildings serving several districts at once.
Higher education is its own category here. RPI in Troy runs a dense campus of academic and research buildings, some tied to lab and research funding schedules that don't pause for summer the way undergraduate housing does. Public school capital projects in New York don't go straight from a board vote to a construction contract.
